Birthday Part 1- The balloons and presents

We had a very low key birthday for Sophie this year. I seriously debated for weeks whether or not it I should throw her a party and if I didn't would that make me a bad mom? I decided that she is too young to really understand what birthdays are all about and that in a few years, maybe even next year, we will throw her a big bash...Does this make me a bad mom? Maybe...We had a lot of fun though. We blew up about 30 pink(her apparent favorite color for now) and placed them around the house. The first thing she said when she woke up was "Balloonies". (We need to work on dropping the EEE sound from the end of everything... sockies, grapeys, etc... you get the point-I do it, so she does it :) ) . Anyway, we played with the balloons for a while-which by the way are still strewn throughout the house and provide lots of entertainment daily- and then we got down to the fun activity of opening presents. Sophie had a great time and loved everything she received. She loves her new toys and movies and I was particularly excited about all of the summer clothes she was given(she kept trying to put them on over her jammies, so I think she was pretty excited, too)! Anyway, after that, we were off to the non-party event of the day... more on that another time. Check back soon.

Happy Birthday Sophie! And no of course it doesn't make you a bad mommy not to throw a bday party! I think we'll wait until Hyrum is like 6 or something. We had a "party" for him this year but it was really an excuse for us to have all our friends over :) We didn't really do anything birthdayish but have a cake and Hyrum spent half the night hiding from the other kids!
