Six!!

On March 1, Sophie turned 6! Six seems like such a big number to me. Grandma and Grandpa Hillman flew in the night before Sophie's birthday. She knew that Grandma was coming and had been looking forward to it for months! She didn't know Grandpa was coming, however, and she even mistook him for a suitcase that Grandma was sleeping with when she went to snuggle with Grandma first thing in the morning. Grandpa came upstairs awhile later and totally surprised an ecstatic little girl! Grandpa and Grandma took cupcakes to Sophie's school at lunchtime and got to not only eat lunch with her, but also got to stay for recess and go back to classroom to enjoy her reading a book to the class! Spoiled! I haven't even been able to do that! It was definitely a great birthday for her!
Thanks to all of her generous Aunts , Uncles and Grandparents!
We used to have 7 minute frosting on our birthday cakes growing up and I haven't had it for years! It was only after I realized that her crumbly cake was not going to handle my store bought frosting that my mom suggested we tried it! It was a hit and as delicious as I remember it being! Just as a note she picked Lasagna and cantaloupe for her birthday dinner! My kind of girl!
6 candles! Another tradition from growing up was that we all got to blow out the candles on each persons birthday. With 7 kids in the family that took alot of relighting and blowing out. It is much more manageable with my small family and Evan was excited that he got a chance to blow out the candles too!
Sophie generously let Evan open up presents with her. She wasn't stingy about it either. He probably opened up as many as she did! She is becoming more and more nurturing and sweet towards her brother most of the time.

Grandpa wrestling with the kids and putting up with Evan's pinching and pulling.
Some big boots to fill!
We were so happy that they were able to make it for Sophie's birthday! While they were her, Grandpa did alot of repairs and other things around the house for us! We know have overhead lighting and fans in the kiddos rooms and our kitchen sink mishap from Christmas has been fixed. Mom and I also painted the laundry room! It looks way better! I'll post pictures when I have it put back together.

Some things about Sophie at 6:
  • Still loves dressing up as a princess and pretending to be a princess.
  • Love, love, loves crafting! She will spend hours on crafting projects, which usually involves cutting, gluing, drawing, painting, sticking random things on paper and other items around the house. (Now if I can only figure out what to do with all of her "so very special" crafts...)
  • Has lost 2 teeth and has 2 coming into replace them.
  • Loves to play tricks(Any guess where she gets that from...)
  • Reads very well!
  • Is also good at math.
  • She loves swimming and ballet (even though she complains about going every single week).
  • Is starting to learn piano( I am teaching her and we need to be more consistent about it.) She is catching on quick, but is getting frustrated because she wants to be able to play everything right now!
  • Loves playing with friends.
  • Loves school (even though, again, she never wants to go until we are out the door.)
  • Her favorite people are Grandma and Grandpa with nobody else even coming close.
  • Favorite color is white.
  • Is still super snuggly and cuddly.
  • Is trying really hard to choose the right and be kind to others.
  • Tends to get anxious and worries about things(I hate it when I pass bad characteristics to my kids.)
  • Loves her baby brother.
  • Can hardly with to be a mom when she grows up.
  • Loves sugar.
  • Has a cute sense of humor.
  • Loves others easily.
