Jump for your dinner

All of you who know me well, know that I am always up for a little competition. Though this competitive streak has been toned down significantly in the past several years, I still love a good contest and probably love even more to win(although this happens infrequently). Yesterday afternoon as we were hanging around the house, we somehow started a standing broad jump competition(I'm sure there were at least 20 more important and productive things we could have been doing at the time, but this is what we did). We decided that the wager would be that the loser had to make dinner. Since I highly dislike deciding what to make for dinner, this was pretty good motivation. We each had two shots to see how far we could jump from the edge of the hardwood floor into the family room and we marked it off with stickers. Pat went first and he jumped 60 inches. Sophie then soared 14 inches. Then it was my turn, I squatted down, swung my arms and lept 79 inches. Victory!! Ok, so I'm not going to be shattering any world records or anything, but a victory nonetheless. As the unwinner, Pat made a delicious meal with pasta, chicken, mushrooms and tomatoes for dinner-quite tasty!

I guess I should also mention that after we completed the jumping contest, Pat decided it was time for a running around the house contest. Just like the previous competition, we had two chances. Pat got faster and I got slower- he beat me by almost 2 seconds... I guess I will have to work on my house running technique so that we can have a rematch...

Way to win Becky! I am not a bit surprised...and not a bad reward either, I love it when Jeremy makes dinner and cleans up dinner too, it's the best!

Do you remember that night the four of us played Uno and the girls kept beating the guys and they kept trying to pretend like they weren't bugged by it??

Wow, what a good jumper you are! I like your competition idea. I just need to think of something I could actually win so I could throw the contest in my favor. . .
