My boy

Evan and I got to spend a little one on one time this morning while Sophie had a play date with a friend. Since I don't get too much alone time with him, I decided to just sit and play with him instead of running around doing chores(well, we did vacuum, but that is one of Evan's favorite activities, so I figured it was like playing.)

Our little man 16 months old. I can't believe it. He is certainly not a baby anymore. At his 15 month Dr. appointment he was 23 lbs. 4 oz (25%) and 33 1/2 inches tall (90%). He has slimmed down quite a bit over the past couple of months because he is always on the go (as the last picture here shows...it was nearly impossible to get him to hold still this morning for a picture.)
Some things about Evan at 16 months:

  • Loves outside -he would spend all day out there if I would let him. This will be easier once we get our fence in the next couple of weeks, which leads us to our next thing.
  • Loves to wander- I know I've forgotten alot of what Sophie did at this age, but she did stick pretty close to my side. Evan runs off and never turns back.
  • Loves to climb-our house has been redecorated to keep him from climbing on things. Unless we are actively eating at the table, the chairs are laid down on the floor, because if he sees one out for a second he is on the table (luckily we haven't had any falls yet)
  • Says probably about 30ish words...he seems to be really focusing on this recently. One of my favorite things to do while we are driving is to just say random words and he repeats them...so cute(but I realize that I am biased) Some of my favorite things that he says are "ditder" (sister) , "dodie"(Sophie), "bussss"(so cute that he really emphasizes the "s") and "Momma"(no mistaking this one).
  • Loves playing with Sophie(oh yea, and pulling her hair-he loves the reaction he gets from her, and if you know Sophie like I know Sophie, he sure does get a reaction.)
  • Still loves doggies, babies, trucks and balls.
  • Loves to tease and tackle and wrestle, especially with Pat. He'll try to tackle me sometimes, but I can tell he has a funner time when he's with Pat.
  • His favorite foods are blueberries(hands down), yogurt and really any kind of fruit.
  • He also really, really likes peanut butter. By the spoonful. Probably not the best habit, but it's so cute when he gets the pb out of the lazy susan and brings it to me and says"buher".
  • He also recently discovered that he loves Apple juice(not sure I love this one) and he asks for "duice" first thing every morning.
  • He has decided that he is not so sure about the childwatch at the Y in the past week(hoping this passes quickly so I can workout without feeling guilty that he is crying and having a horrible time.)
  • He doesn't like to be sprayed or splashed or squirted, which is interesting, because he love, love, loves water. When we were at a park yesterday that had a little splash park at it, he pointed to the water spraying and said "owie, owie". He does the same thing if we happen to get stuck out in the rain...or even a light sprinkle.
  • He is still super destructive and keeps us on our toes.
  • He is waking up from his nap, so I've got to run!

We sure do love our little Destructive Boy!

Such a cute boy!!! I'm so impressed you did a half marathon :) I remember the one we ran in Moab & it's so embarrassing (at least for me) because I didn't even train or really jog at all so I think it would be so fun to really take it seriously & get in shape first. You should totally do a full marathon & just make your goal to finish it & not worry about the time.
