10 days after his due date, our sweet little boy,
Evan Patrick, finally decided to make his appearance on
February 3rd. I had reluctantly scheduled an induction for February 4th, but kept praying and hoping that I would go into labor on my own before then. I started having contractions on the morning of the 3rd, but I was in denial that I could possibly be in labor until I realized mid- morning that they were starting to become regular and stronger. So I called Pat and after much debate (I guess it was obvious to him that I was in labor but I wasn't so sure and I really didn't want to go to the hospital just to have the contractions go away and for them to tell me to stop being a Wanney and to send me home), I called the doctor and they told me to come into Labor and Delivery. We got there a little after 2 in the afternoon and after being monitered for a while and walking a bit, I was told that indeed this was the real deal. We got admitted to the hospital a little after 4 and had the baby at
9:47 that night. Based on my huge belly, I thought he was going to be a big baby, but was even surprised myself when they told me he was
9 lbs. 4 oz. and 21" long. Sophie was only 6 lbs 13 oz, so there was a difference of 2 1/2 lbs between the two of them. All in all I was really pleased with how everything went.
So far Evan seems to be pretty laid back, except when he is hungry and then he wants food NOW and really lets everyone know it! Luckily, he took up nursing like a champ from the get go-hopefully it will continue that way! Sophie adores him most of the time, although we are really glad that Grandma is here to keep her entertained most of the day. I think it will be a bit of a shock for her once Grandma leaves and she no longer has a constant playmate or a Mommy who can play with her every second of the day-I guess she will adjust like we all did.

Congratulation! You & Pat look to young to be having babies. (Maybe that's because I just keep getting older).
