Thanksgiving

We decided to stay here for Thanksgiving this year. We invited a few friends over and had quite the feast and a fabulous time. It was my first time hosting a Thanksgiving dinner and my first time making a turkey, gravy and pumpkin pie, but all in all I think things worked out okay. I was very grateful that my mom was just a phone call away, as I had to call her several times throughout the day to ask her questions, mostly about the turkey and gravy. I think both the turkey and gravy turned out pretty good. The pumpkin pie on the other hand was not the best. We actually cooked and mashed up a pumpkin and made the pie totally from scratch. On Thanksgiving, I was surprised that on Thanksgiving Sophie was downing the pumpkin pie that my friend had bought(I am pretty sure I did not even try pumpkin pie at that age), but on friday morning when we gave her the pumpkin pie that we had made(yes, pie for breakfast), she declared. " I only like pumpkin pie at the party." I think that next year we will buy our pumkin pie. Our apple pie however, turned out delicious. After we stuffed ourselves, we played a little bit of ping pong and then a game of Settler's while the kids watched movies and played with every single toy that we had in the house. It was a good time with great company and a whole feast of delicious food.

Sophie helping out in the kitchen. The only part she didn't want to help out with was the turkey. She told me " Mom that looks like a real turkey." Well Soph, I hate to tell you, but...

Oh, and Sophie dancing to the music on the Thanksgiving day parade coverage. Isn't she fabulous.

We also had a lot of fun spending the rest of the weekend together as a family. It was so nice to have Pat home for 4 1/2 days. We got to play lots of games, start cleaning out what will be the baby's room, take long afternoon naps(or at least I did) and get out all of our Christmas decorations. Christmas is already so fun this year. Sophie has her favorite Christmas songs and as I type this, she is looking through the ornaments that we will put on our advent calendar starting tomorrow. She can hardly wait to choose one.
