A lot of yard work. Mostly trying to get rid of all of our weeds and trying to regrow the grass where the waterline broke last September. It is looking better, although we do have a fair amount of weeds in there still. I still haven't done much with my flower beds yet, although I need to soon.

Going to the zoo. Our pass expires at the end of the month and I have been going back and forth about whether or not to renew it or get a pass somewhere else. We have definitely gotten our use out of it this year. Sophie loves seeing the animals. Although she HATES bugs and anything that flies, she loves to pet bigger things like goats, dogs and cats.

Pat has Actuarial exam number 7 coming up on May 11. He has been studying extra hard in hopes of getting it passed this year. Sophie and I have been trying to not pester him so that he can study.

Sophie got to spend a little while with Pat at work on 'Bring your child to work' day. I think she thought it was neat, but as we were driving home she said, "Daddy doesn't have any toys at work." She loves doing any and everything with Daddy and he is usually more fun than I am.

Sophie celebrated her 3rd b-day on March 1, but I finally got around to taking her to her 3 year well check in April. She is 37 1/2" tall and 31.6 lbs., which puts her about the 50th percentile for both. I can't believe she is already 3. Some favorites of Sophie right now are: Anything baby or princess, pink(she also declares that orange and black are her favorite colors), running around the neighborhood, playing memory and computer games with daddy, playing with her friends, talking about her family(especially Grandma, Amy, Livy, Britt and Emmy) and having family home evening. She also likes to declare what things are her favorites or "that is not my favorite snack." Sophie can be very social, but also likes to have her own space sometimes( I wonder where she gets that from.). She is also very independent and knows exactly what she wants...she is very determined. She is also very imaginative...sometimes she gets frustrated when I don't play the pretend game quite right. She know how to write most letters of the alphabet and is learning the sounds they make. She likes to pretend she can read and sometimes gets a little frustrated when she tells us that something says a certain word and we tell her what it really says.

Pat celebrated his 29th birthday on April 16.

Sophie has been asking me a lot lately, "Mommy can we go to the park and meet some new friends." And we will go to the park and she will declare, "This is my friend" to another child there and next thing I know they are friends and playing with each other for the remainder of the time we are there. I wish I were able to make friends as easily and willingly as she does. She has also started asking to having specific friends over to play...I think she is starting to get bored with just having Mommy around. I need to get better at calling people for playdates. Here, Sophie is pushing her little friend Hattie in the swings.

We are also trying to take a little time to stop and smell the 'tulips'.
