$3 worth of fun

We had a fun-filled Saturday yesterday. First of all our neighborhood had their annual yard sale, so we went out bright and early to see what great treasures we could find. Although we were a little dissapointed in the selection, we did find this great slide for Sophie for only $3. I debated whether or not to buy it because quite frankly she doesn't need any more toys , but I had been wanting to get her one for a while and it was only $3. The only other things we found were a cute little wooden rocking chair that I will be refinishing(my neighbor lowered the price from 25 cents to free-I think she felt bad about how much work it will be to redo it) and two little stuffed animals(like we need anymore) that another neighbor was giving away for free. But the slide has been a hit, Sophie has easily gotten at least $3 worth of fun out of the slide and we have only owned it for 28 hours!
Later that day we headed down to the butterfly exhibit at Krohn's Conservatory with a coupon that a friend had sent us making addmission only $3 a person. I had been looking forward to going to this exhibit for awhile because I have heard many raving reviews and recommendations from people, but I was quite dissapointed. There weren't nearly as many butterflies as I expected and Sophie was deathly afraid of them. At first when one landed on my finger she thought it was neat, but once I tried to give it to her she was done with the butterflies(don't be deceived by the cute picture above). I really think I do have a girly girl on my hands. So between competing against all the other people to try and get a butterfly to land on us and Sophie crying and trying to avoid the butterflies at all costs, it was not really a great experience. I don't really feel like I got $3 worth of fun per person out of our experience! At least we have all the extra fun from the slide to make up for it.
Oh and a highlight of the trip- we drove up to Mt. Adams a little bit to turn around and we saw this little park, so we pulled over to look at the river. As we were taking in the beautiful scene, I looked down and noticed a little raccoon eating away at some cat food and carrots someone had put there. I am not sure if someone is trying to make the little raccoon their pet or what, but it was kind of weird!

Hooray for yard sales! We went to a giant one our friends were having on Saturday and got a great bike for Jeremy and some clothes, books, puzzles and toys for so cheap. That slide looks awesome!

What a great deal on that slide!! She'll have a blast with that. Sorry to hear about the butterflies, I've been debating whether or not to go & I just don't think it's worth the effort.
